Welcome to my website!

Update May 2011 I just finished my Freshman year at Austin College in Sherman Texas! So far, while being quite a challenge to keep up with all the demands of college life, I'm doing well and am able to keep up with the study workload while being on the Volleyball team and having to travel a lot this fall.

There's a lot you have to manage at college - not just your current studies while playing an intercollegiate sport, but also the course planning for your next semester and for any January Term courses.

The details of my past accomplishments and skills can be found by hovering over the tabs you'll see just above this text where you can view my Curriculum Vitae, my Art Portfolio, my Volleyball skills, and my Martial Arts.

Curriculum Vitae

My current education and interest resume can be viewed by clicking on Curriculum Vitae where you'll find summary information about who I am and how to contact me! I haven't updated my CV since starting college so what you'll see is only current through my High School Graduation.

2011 Dallas Regional Japanese Speech Contest

I participated in the 14th Annual Japanese Teachers Association of Texas Dallas Regional Speech Contest last February 11th and 12th and managed to make it into the final 5 competing against the top Japanese Language students at the College and Adult levels. I took 4th place which is a pretty amazing finish for a Freshman competing against all the other college-level and adult Japanese Language students in North Texas! You can see a video of my speech here!

Update October 2010

Welcome to my Art Portfolio!

I'm really enjoying my art class in "Drawing The Figure" at Austin College. I get almost 3 hours of time every other day drawing some aspect of the figure and I can see the effect in the way I now draw my characters! It's a great class!

An almost 9 minute slide show of my visual arts work at Rampart High School in various media can be viewed by clicking on Art Portfolio video which is about 40MB in size so please be patient while it transfers.

The video is in MP4 Xvid format and should be viewable by a variety of players on most PCs. If you have trouble viewing the portfolio you can try viewing a PDF version (40MB!) which will not be timed nor have musical accompaniment but should be viewable by Apple, Windows, and Linux PCs!

Welcome to my Volleyball Page!

Wow! What can I say - I'm playing NCAA Volleyball - Jersey #17! My team finished the 2010 season with a 29-10 record (9-5 in conference). I don't get a lot of playing time yet as a Freshman but I have been able to make a difference as you can see in this article: Volleyball Wins on Senior Night! I have a video of the last few minutes of the 3rd set starting from when we were down 20-23 and went to 20-24 before we came back to win! It's a large file (140MB) but if you have the patience then watch a lot of the other Freshmen and I come back to Win!

We're in a pretty strong conference with the top two teams from our conference being in the top 25 in the AVCA coaches poll most of the season. We had a 14-0 run to start our season and spent one week ourselves as #22 nationally! We compete in the SCAC and you can see the team stats and results at SCAC Women's Volleyball!

Our season came to a close with the conference playoffs on November 5th and 6th at Trinity University in San Antonio Texas. I'm looking forward to actually being on campus for a full week or more after so many weekends on the road! If you'd like to follow my team on Facebook then go to Austin College Volleyball!

Welcome to my Soo Bahk Do Page!

I have been studying this Korean Martial Art since Elementary School. I achieved the Rank of Cho Dan in October of 2006. Since starting college and playing on the Volleyball team I have had limited time to continue my training but hope to get with a school in the Dallas area later this Fall and Winter!

If you'd like to learn more about this Korean Martial Art please check out Soo Bahk Do!

Video Playback Issues

----> If you're having problems viewing the videos on this site then I highly recommend you try the VLC video player available at VideoLan.org which is both free and consistent across multiple platforms, including Macs and Linux.
----> I don't have a Mac to test on but the videos were developed in either the MP4 or Xvid format which the recent versions of Quicktime have no trouble playing. If you have a Mac and are having video playback issues then please try the VLC player. On Windows machines I've gotten mixed results with different browsers. I test with Firefox and Internet Explorer on Win2k, WinXP, Vista, and Win7. Out of the box installations of Vista and Win7 work fine but earlier versions seem to be dependent on what Media Players and Codecs you may have installed over the years - in all cases the lowest common denominator that always worked on machines which were previously failing was to install the VLC player.
----> I've seen cases where these large video files playback in a "jerky" fashion where they start and stop a lot - that seems to be caused largely by the speed of your internet connection and your default MP4 embedded player configuration. If it's set to not buffer the whole video before playback then it will play in a jerky fashion as the playback buffer gets exhausted at a faster rate than your internet connection can refill it. So please check your settings for video playback to ensure your player doesn't start playback before it has several minutes of video buffered. Also - on some versions of the Windows Media Player on the Art Portfolio video the audio doesn't playback - don't know why but using the VLC player fixes that!
